waves for R/C Surfing are approximately between 0 - .5m high and breaking
within 20m of shoreline.
Observing
weather forecasts and the surf reports will help you avoid adverse conditions
for R/C Surfing such as wind, rain, weed, large waves etc.
Pre-Surf
Checklist

Radio
Operation
In addition to the following information, please read and refer to the
instruction manual and manufacturers guidelines regarding the use and
operation of this radio unit.
All
TUBEY R/C SUREFERS are supplied with a 2channel radio unit, which
has been installed and set-up for optimum performance. It is important
that the adjustments made for each Surfer be maintained.
Install
new batteries, extend the radio antenna and check/test to ensure both
radio "Servos" are operating correctly according the inputs
on the transmitter.
Steering - Switch on the radio unit and test the steering operation
to the left and right. When not operating, the fin should return and
centralise for straight running.
Motor - Use the motor trim tab adjustment to ensure the servo horn operates
the switch only, and does not place excessive force on the switch plate
when operating the motor/switch.
Ensure the steering trim tab is centrally located, and the motor trim
tab is located in the downward position.

Antenna Installation
Remove antenna seal from the top of the antenna tube, then insert the
antenna into the antenna tube (from the underside of the hatch cover),
and feed the wire through until it protrudes approx 10cm from the top
of the antenna tube.
Wet
the antenna seal and insert the antenna wire through the seal, then
push the seal over the top end of the tube.
Position the excess antenna wire above the servos, and stick down using
putty adhesive as shown.
Battery Installation
NOTE: Please refer to the manufacturers information and guidelines regarding
the use and disposal of batteries.
" Ensure all batteries are fully charged and in good condition
before operating this model.
" Please refer to the Radio unit Instruction manual for the installation
of batteries into the radio unit.
" When installing the 7.2V battery, form the putty adhesive on
each side of the battery cradle as shown, and press the battery firmly
into place and position the wires as shown.
" Reform the putty adhesive for each battery change.
" Connect the battery and position the wires as shown.
" Fold the wires and connector into the spare cavity and ensure
wires do not come into contact with the motor coupler or any other moving
parts (see figures below).
NOTE: Always disconnect batteries and remove from the model when not
in use.

Securing
Hatch-Cover
NOTE: It is important to ensure that the Hatch cover is sealed correctly
before operating this model.
The hatch cover is secured to the board by 4x 5M bolts.
Before commencing to screw down and secure the Hatch cover, ensure all
wires are positioned correctly and will not interfere with the seal.
Place
the Hatch cover centrally onto the board and locate the screws as shown.
Using the supplied screwdriver, screw in each 5M bolt approximately
2turns, then commence to tighten the bolts down evenly and avoid cross-threading.
Continue to tighten the screws down until the Hatch cover contacts the
board and sufficient resistance is felt on the screws to seal the board
compartment.
DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN SCREWS!! EXCESSIVE FORCE MAY DAMAGE THE MODEL!!
AVOID: leaving hatch cover screwed down whilst not in use.
Pre-Surf Check
A pre-surf check of the TUBEY R/C SURFER before heading to the beach
will help to ensure problems are avoided while operating the model.
A visual inspection of the model can show obvious signs of fatigue or
damaged parts.
Check that the model is always dry and clean, paying special attention
to the board compartment seal and hatch cover sealing surfaces.
Before installing any batteries, check by hand that the propeller blade
rotates freely and is not binding.
Install and connect all batteries, then switch on the radio unit and
check both radio functions and motor operation. Switch off, and disconnect
for transport.

DO
NOT TOUCH THE PROPELLER WHEN BATTERIES ARE INSTALLED AND CONNECTED!!
When
the model is functioning correctly, secure the Hatch-cover to the board
( two threads only), and head to the beach.
What to take to the beach
When going to the beach, it is recommended to take and use the following
items:
TUBEY R/C SURFER - Required for some extreme action and fun.
Beach towel - Required for placing all R/C Surfing equipment on, and
also for wind and sand protection.
Carry bag - To carry and transport R/C Surfing equipment in (Screwdriver,
Manual
, Radio, batteries, Hat & Sunscreen etc).

Surfing
The TUBEY R/C SURFER
All beginner operators should search for the smallest and calmest conditions
possible to familiarise themselves with the operation and characteristics
of the model.
Before beginning, place a towel and the R/C Surfing equipment down on
the beach and away from the waters edge. Then do a brief final check of
the model.
Ensure that all other operators are on different radio frequencies, switch
on the radio unit and extend the radio antenna. Connect up the 7.2V battery
and test the radio functions and motor operation. Once the model is ready
for operation, secure the hatch cover.
Hold the transmitter in the left hand, pick up the model by the board
and approach the waters edge.
DO
NOT PICK UP THE MODEL BY THE SURFER DOLL!!
DO NOT PICK UP THE RADIO TRANSMITTER BY THE ANTENNA!!
Place
the TUBEY R/C SURFER into the water in between waves and operate the
motor switch to accelerate. Then steer left and right to become familiar
with the radio functions and the boards performance and speed.

AVIOD
WETTING THE RADIO TRANSMITTER AT ALL TIMES!!
Once
familiar with the characteristics of the model, choose the easiest way
out to the breaking wave area "Out The Back" by jumping broken
waves and avoiding breaking waves.
Once "Out The Back", select an approaching wave point the
model towards the shore, and accelerate to match the speed of the wave.
Once the wave has been caught, gently begin to steer left or right and
start to surf across the face of the wave.
TUBEY R/C SURFERS are not only capable of performing realistic surfing
manoeuvres such as "Airiels", "Cutbacks", "Re-entry's",
"Floaters", "360's" and "Tube's", but
are also capable of unique manoeuvres such as "720's", "Tube-Launch"
and "Wave Jumping"!!
When
the model/Surfer? begins to slow down as a result of decreasing battery
power, operate the model close to the shoreline and the operator, to
enable an easier retrieval from the water.
ALWAYS
PLACE "TUBEY R/C SURFER" ON FOAM BOX WHEN NOT OPERATING TO
SUPPORT THE MODEL AND PROTECT THE FIN AND PROPELLOR!!
